When a Campus Platform Changes Hands

A contract you did not renegotiate can still become your migration.

By Vlogic Advisors DeskReviewed November 3, 20264 min read

Colleges run on a short list of platforms: the student-information system, the learning system, finance, and the testing services admissions offices use. Several of those are in motion for reasons the campus did not choose.

What the reporting shows

Government Technology (GovTech) reports that Anthology's ERP and student-information products are moving to Ellucian through a bankruptcy reorganization. Institutions on those platforms face roadmap and migration decisions they did not choose.

Higher Ed Dive reports that a second breach took a widely used learning management system offline across campuses. Higher Ed Dive reports that the same group went after PeopleSoft, potentially reaching data at more than 100 organizations. Older ERP environments remain high-value targets that need patching and monitoring.

Higher Ed Dive reports that ETS is acquiring ACT. A merger of two major testing organizations will change platforms and data flows admissions offices rely on.

Opinion — Vlogic Advisors

Write down which student, finance, learning, and admissions systems sit with one vendor. Ask for an export, a way to keep operating if that service stops, and a named owner for patching older finance and student systems. A merger you did not choose is still your integration project. The companion piece is where to point AI once those dependencies are visible.
