Campus teams are past the stage of asking whether anyone is trying AI. The harder question is which operation should get it, and what still works if the underlying system does not.
Priorities, then dependencies
Inside Higher Ed reports that campus technology leaders rank deciding where AI adds value, and future-proofing students, as their top issues. That is a priority statement, not a product recommendation.
The dependency is already in the news. Higher Ed Dive reports a second breach that took a widely used learning system offline across campuses. Higher Ed Dive reports a follow-on campaign against PeopleSoft that potentially reached data at more than 100 organizations. An assistant pointed at either system inherits that concentration.

Pick one operation. Name the data the tool may see and the person accountable for the result. The survey's other top issue is future-proofing students. Know how you teach, register students, and keep records if a core platform is offline. The platform piece walks through vendor changes. The general AI checklist is the cross-industry companion.
